DAVID DIAZ HEADLINES AT CICERO STADIUM
OUTSTANDING UNDERCARD FEATURES GILBERT VENEGAS AND FRANCISCO DIAZ

Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, returns to Cicero Stadium on Friday, June 16th to present “DESTINY,” an action packed evening of world class boxing headlined by Chicagoland’s most popular boxer, David Diaz in a twelve round bout for the IBA Lightweight World Championship.

“DESTINY” is presented by 8 Count Productions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated along with Miller Lite and TCF Bank.

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie Ave., just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 6pm with the first bell at 7pm.

Tickets, starting at $30 are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Diaz, (30-1-1, 16 KO’s) returns to the ring, following his ten round unanimous decision win over Silverio Ortiz on the 8 Count Productions’ MADNESS IN MARCH event at the Aragon Ballroom.

“David was in a very tough battle last time out against Ortiz but won the last couple of rounds as he continued to display his warrior spirit. That’s exactly what our fans want to see and that’s why he’s so popular in Chicago. Fans know he’ll fight to the end and they have a great deal of respect for him” said Pesoli.

An outstanding undercard for this event will feature bouts including middleweight Francisco Diaz, (14-1, 8 KO’s) of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Chicagoland fan favorite, welterweight Gilbert Venegas, (9-2-2, 6 KO’s). Additional information on the undercard will be announced shortly.

Stated Pesoli, “Francisco Diaz is a tough, good looking kid from Kansas, he’s been very successful in his first fifteen fights and we think our fans will really take to him. Venegas caught a tough break with the cut in his last bout with Rincon but we’re looking for him to successfully bounce back.”

Continued Pesoli, “Jerry Alfano (matchmaker for 8 Count Productions) continues to put together great matches for our fans. We’ll be able to announce more details for this card later this week. “

8 Count Productions was started by Dominic Pesoli in 1997 and has consistently presented the highest quality professional boxing events in Chicagoland. In 2003, Pesoli along with former featherweight contender Mike Garcia opened JABB Boxing Gym, a 6,000 square foot venue dedicated to the finest Chicagoland boxers of all talent levels.
