WHY: Arturo Gatti, boxing’s most exciting fighter and one of its most popular stars, returns to the ring July 22 when he battles WBC world-recognized linear welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, it was announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. (Baldomir is also recognized as The Ring magazine’s welterweight champion and will be presented with The Ring’s Championship Belt at the press conf).

Main Events is promoting the evening of boxing, in association with Sycuan Ringside Promotions of San Diego and Caesars Atlantic City. The 12-round championship bout will be broadcast on HBO’s “World Championship Boxing” series.

Tickets, priced at $400, $250, $150, $100 and $ 50, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall box office, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
